DRIVERS heading north into Scotland are being warned that the A75 will be closed at Gretna for three nights next week.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out essential lighting repairs on the A75 at Gretna Bypass, meaning motorists heading from Cumbria won't be able to join the A75 at junction 22 (Gretna) from the A74 (M).

Mark Williams, Scotland TranServ’s lighting and electrical delivery manager said: “We are planning these works for a total of three overnights to reduce disruption to commuters and business traffic.

"Scotland TranServ has worked in consultation with Highways England, Autolink, the local authority and emergency services.

"As such, special access will be retained for emergency service vehicles throughout these works.”

The work will be carried out under a series of lane and slip road closures for three nights.

They include:

  • From 9.30pm on Tuesday, April 9 until 6am on Wednesday, April 10
  • From 9.30am on Wednesday, April 10 until 6am on Thursday, April 11
  • From 9.30am on Thursday, April 11 until 6am on Friday, April 12

Signed diversions will be in place throughout the works.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for their journeys.
