MARYPORT'S vital lifeboat crew has been awarded almost £4,000 to continue its life-saving work.
It's come from Cumbria Community Foundation's United Utilities Fund and will be used to towards training new volunteers.
Maryport Inshore Rescue's training programme costs a total of almost £24,000.
New volunteers, recruited in the last 12 months, will be given training to national and international standards while the programme provides a refresher for existing crews.
The organisation is continuing to recruit for all aspects of its service, from lifeboat crew to fundraisers.
