Former Factory Shop manager Mark Hodgson has died suddenly at the age of 38.

This week family have paid tribute to a mischievous boy who grew into a mischievous man and brought fun, love and laughter into the lives of many.

With parents Marianne and father David and sisters Helen and Lindsey, Mr Hodgson grew up in Dearham where he attended Dearham Primary School and then Netherhall in Maryport.

At 16 he had a milk round and then began work in a Maryport fish factory before becoming manager of Alauna Tanning Salon in Maryport.

He was one of the first full-time managers of the Original Factory Shop, taking over just months after it opened in Maryport.

He was most recently employed as a courier.

He moved to Crosby a short time ago where he was a common sight walking his little dog, Gypsy.

Mr Hodgson died suddenly on Sunday, resulting in a torrent of tributes on social media.

His immediate family shared their memories.

"He was a nutter," older sister Helen. "He would do anything for a laugh."

"Including tormenting us," Lindsey added.

His mother agreed: "He would torment and tease the life out of me. He was so funny."

His good nature and humour meant he could get away with anything.

Mrs Hodgson said: "He couldn't change a car tyre. He used to call his dad to do it - and leave him out in the rain changing the tyre while he came into the house to stay warm!"

The family each had stories about his humorous take on life.

Helen said: "He loved dressing up and going out. He had so many friends.

Helen, through social media, thanked everyone for the messages and flowers and tributes that they have received in honour of Mark.

A service for Mark will be held at the Distington crematorium at 2pm on Tuesday.

Family flowers only have been requested but donations for the Great North Air Ambulance will be accepted.
