We Will, the group making national headlines for its fight for improved mental health services for the young could soon add a winning film to their list of achievements.
The group of teenagers from Maryport and Cockermouth have been short listen in the 2019 Osprey Film Awards.
The awards celebrate local film making by showing a selection of short films.
The best film is selected by a panel of judges. There is also a vote on the night for the audience award.
The young group won the Cumbria Newspapers community hero awards earlier this year and, last week, featured in national newspapers and on radio.
The group was set up with the support and help of the Ewanrigg Local Trust and Hug-a-Mug in Maryport.
Their film shows people’s reaction to a teenager suffering from mental health issues and the frustration of being able to find someone who is really listening to what she is saying and her cry for help.
Twelve Cumbrian short films have been nominated.
The film festival will be held in the Alhambra in Keswick on Saturday, March 2, starting at 12.30. Entry is free.
