A WEST Cumbrian woman will feature in a Channel 5 show this week.

Expat Mandy Quinn, from Workington, will appear in Thursday's episode of Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun, the Costa del Sol based observational documentary series following the lives of Brits who have followed their dream of a Spanish sunshine life.

The episode, which will be broadcast at 8pm, features Mandy as she stages the second ever Pride event in the sleepy Spanish town of Manilva.

The first event, organised with fellow expat Christian Lee Dunn, from Wigan, was a small affair as they were worried about the reaction of the locals. But after its success, this year they are putting on a bigger event. The trouble this time is finding the £18,000 budget.

But with a town full of British expats and lots of friendly locals they seem to be on the way, despite costume calamities for the drag queens performing at the fundraiser. Their worries don’t end there, on the day of the big parade, the generator powering the music goes down. Will they have to fly the rainbow flag on the streets of Manilva in silence?
