A woman who stole a candlestick from a discount store has found herself in court.

Leigh Amy Morgan, 32, of Priory Close, Frizington, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court.

The court heard that on December 13 last year, Morgan stole a glass candlestick worth £10 from B&M in Whitehaven.

In a separate offence on January 15, she used threatening or abusive words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, in Whitehaven.

Morgan admitted both offences.

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge for the shoplifting offence and ordered to pay £10 compensation.

For the public order offence Morgan was fined £50.

She was ordered to pay £250 costs and a £30 surcharge.
