A miss Cumbria hopeful from Egremont is raising funds for a children's charity.

As well as various other projects, Brooke Drummond is hosting a charity costume ball in aid of Variety.

Brooke said: "It is part of the competition but I do enjoy raising money."

She said: "I am very passionate about this charity."

Variety brings aid to children in the UK who are disabled or disadvantaged. One of the services Variety offers is the Sunshine Coaches which take disadvantaged young people to events and trips.

Brooke has previously hosted a charity cake sale at Lakes College and bag-packing in supermarkets, among other fundraising ventures. She said: "I've even sold my second hand clothes."

All of her fundraising efforts so far have been in favour of Variety.

Although Brooke has done a lot for the charity, she does not do it for recognition: "I just want to raise as much as I can," she said.

The final of the Miss Cumbria competition will take place this April.

The charity ball will be held at the Marchson Club on March 8. Tickets can be purchased on the venue, to keep up to date on Brooke's Miss Cumbria campaign, visit her Facebook Page.
