A man who went to the home of a woman he was banned from contacting, assaulted her and destroyed her TV has been jailed.

Robert John Hadfield, 27, of Sycamore Court, Workington, appeared at West Cumbria Magistrates Court.

Magistrates heard that, on December 31, Hadfield entered the Whitehaven street where his victim lived and spoke to the woman, despite being banned from doing so by a restraining order imposed in May last year.

The court heart he assaulted the woman in her own home and destroyed an LG television worth £200.

Hadfield admitted the offences.

He also admitted a separate change of failing to comply with supervision requirements by failing to attend an appointment as instructed on June 27.

Hadfield was given a 14-week prison sentence and ordered to pay £200 compensation.
