Lakes College is celebrating a high number of university applications.

The college has increased the number of UCAS applications from last year, with a higher number of students raising their aspirations to university after completing their college studies.

Staff at the college have encouraged students to consider university as an option.

Students have applied for a variety of universities across the UK in subjects ranging from law, fashion and criminology to marketing, architectural design technology and sports psychology.

Several students have already received unconditional university offers since applying, other applicants will visit their preferred universities for interviews to present their portfolio of work and to take part in group tasks.

Owen Fowler is currently studying Public Services at Lakes College and has applied to study Adult Nursing at university.

He said: "I have always enjoyed healthcare, this is mainly due to my personal experiences with the NHS and I have a lot of experience working with people of all ages."

Andrew White is studying Nurse Cadets and has put an application in to study Physio and Sports Therapy.

Andrew says he chose his course due to “his love of football and helping people”.

He recognised that attending several university open days has helped him to reach the decision which was best for him. He also had a lot of help and encouragement from his parents and older brother, who were a big influence in his decision to choose university as the next stage in his career and future.

Lakes College is committed to supporting students with their higher education offering a range of university level courses along with a programme of support of external university applications.
