HARRINGTON Sea Angling Club’s rescheduled 2018 cod open finally took place on January 5 with 119 seniors and three juniors fishing and bringing 44 cod to the scales.

Taking first place was Tony Lewthwaite, with a cod of 4lb 10oz, winning the top prize of £1000. In second was Mark Scott with a cod of 4lb 4½oz winning £500.

Third was Simon Hogan with a cod of 4lb 1oz winning £300 and in fourth was Wayne Brash with a cod of 3lb 14oz winning £200.

The club thanked Christine and her staff from the Harrington Boating Club, Chris from Fish Baits from Maryport for donating the junior prizes, Gerrys of Morecambe and all who donated prizes and raffle prizes.

They also paid tribute to all the anglers who attended and members for rescheduling the event.

All money raised from raffle tickets will be donated to the air ambulance service.

The club’s latest match was fished in conjunction with the cod open which resulted in 17 seniors fishing.
