An Egremont man is motivating people to reach their goals whilst undertaking his own charity challenge.

Alex Cook is aiming for fundraising goals and asking others to do the same by creating a 100%'ers profile.

People with goals can create a profile and track their progress. Ambitious people share their journey, stay accountable for their success and encourage like-minded people. Alex said: "If you keep it to yourself a lot of these goals will fizzle out."

The campaign is a part of the Thank The Universe brand, which aims to spread positivity. On the philosophy behind it, Alex said: "I'm not a religious person but I believe there is a correct way to the universe."

He said: "It was always in the back of my mind to do something creative."

Alex's own plan is to take-on the 500m Derwent Epic Lakes Swim in aid of mental health charity, Mind - West Cumbria. The Derwent Epic Lakes Swim begins at Crowe Park, Keswick.

He admits that he has some way to go before the event: "I can certainly swim but I can't swim well." However, he has 14 weeks of classes to improve his technique. Alex will stay accountable for his training through his profile.

The founder of Thank The Universe and the Vanquish clothing line also hosts The Priory podcast, where he chronicles his adventures and discusses subjects that interest him. Alex has interviewed high-profile authors on the podcast, including legendary explorer Erling Kagge.

In addition to the Thank The Universe ventures, Alex Cook plans to write an autobiography on "certain points of my life so far." Like his podcast, the book will take readers on a journey through Alex's anecdotal adventures.

Another goal-setter is Kevin Young. Kevin's main aim with the 100%'ers club is to finish the Cumbrian Run half marathon in aid of North Copeland Youth Partnership. The organisation rely on donations to stay aflout and continue to offer support to young people in the area.
