Lee Andrews believes that Workington Reds have enough about them to avoid the drop from the Evo-Stik Premier League.

Indeed, Andrews says he would not have taken the manager’s job until the end of the season if he did not think the team could battle their way out of trouble.

“I really do believe that we have enough ability to get us out of trouble and that was why I said I would take it on after Gavin [Skelton] resigned,” he said.

“We are looking at freshening-up the squad with a couple of new faces.

"The club will be putting seven days' notice in on a player while Steven [Rudd] has contacts with a Championship club which might help us with a good loan signing.

“What’s happened now has happened. As a club, we can’t dwell on what has gone on over the last few days. That’s gone now and we all have to look forward.

“It’s down to everybody at the club to pull together with one objective - getting ourselves out of the bottom three and up the league table.

“We still have games in hand and some against the clubs around us, mostly at home, so we just have to concentrate on winning football matches."

Reds have been unbeaten in their last two away games – winning at Lancaster 2-0 on Boxing Day and drawing 1-1 at Stafford on Saturday.

But they face a tougher test this Saturday when they travel to Gainsborough Trinity who are just outside the play-offs.

Andrews won’t have Dan Wordsworth, Saturday’s goal-scoring hero, or skipper Gari Rowntree as they will be suspended following their red cards on New Year’s Day against Stalybridge Celtic.

Jordan Holt, who had signed non-contract forms after being released by Carlisle United, is seeking trials at various clubs as he tries to get back into full-time football, and is not expected to be available.
