People in Copeland can have their say next week on the borough council's spending plans for the next year.

Mayor of Copeland will hold events at Millom Network Centre on Wednesday, January 16 and The Beacon Portal, Whitehaven, on Thursday, January 17. Both events run from 5pm to 6.30pm to outline Copeland Council's proposed spending for 2019/20.

Mr Starkie said: "I'm looking forward to sharing our budget proposals for the forthcoming year. The public consultation we held towards the end of last year generated a good response that offers us plenty of feedback that we have incorporated into our thinking.

"These events are now an opportunity for the community to contribute in person, and all feedback received will be taken on board as we finalise our proposals as the budget-setting process continues over the coming weeks.

"After I've outlined the proposals, I'll be taking questions so this is a good chance for members of the community to have their say on the issues that matter to them."

Further events are being planned for Egremont and Cleator Moor on dates to be confirmed.
