Lindsay Buck, known as the Wasdale Womble, is from Gosforth.

She’s proud to be part of a large number of people cleaning up Copeland by litter picking. “My patch is Wasdale including Scafell Pike,” she says.

“Huge numbers climb England’s highest peak and too many leave rubbish on the fell and roadside.

“It’s easy to have a bag to hand.

“So far in 2018 I’ve collected 1,347 plastic bottles, 955 cans plus other stuff.

“I love living in Gosforth and being retired enjoying the fells, forests, beaches, people and history of Copeland.”
