Station Road B stretched their lead to three points at the top of the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League Division One with a 4-2 away win over close rivals Workington Conservative Club.

Mike Park gave Cons an early lead but wins from Tony Elliott, Mark Tunstall, Peter O’Hagan and Shaun Ayre Station B were soon 4-1 up.

Ryan Barker reduced the deficit in the last for a much needed point, while Ayre’s win makes him the leading player in the division.

Division Two’s Station Road A produced the performance of the week as they thrashed Division One’s Workington Veterans Club 5-1 in a home win that takes them to the top of the second tier table.

Tom Thompson turned round what looked like a defeat in the first for 1-0 and as Mike Walker won the next Station A were 2-0 up.

A Paul Mostyn victory made it 2-1 but with a superb display of long potting Station A’s John Teasdale made it 3-1 with an excellent win over three-time county champion Kevin Basnett.

Mark Robertson grafted to make 4-1 and as Geoff Smith took the last the comprehensive Station A victory pushed the Vets Club back down to the bottom of the Division One table.

Flimby Social carried their cup form through they beat Division Two’s United Club 4-2.

A 1-0 lead for the Workington outfit courtesy of Tony Hindmoor was a distant memory as Paul Vickers, Richard Kirkham and Kevin Kirkham made it 3-1 to Flimby.

Andrew Mitchelhill dragged the United Club back into the match in frame five however as Sal Cakmak won the last on the black a Social victory was ensured.

Flimby sit fourth in Division One and the United Club move down into third spot in Division Two.

Maryport Social A started off their away match in brilliant style as they went 3-0 up, but in a game of two halves Workington Legion came storming back to record a very creditable 3-3 draw.

Finally, Division One’s Workington Golf Club delivered a solid away display as they defeated Maryport Social B 4-2.
