A VILLAGE hairdresser has been devastated by the second break-in of her shop in 12 months.

Nicola Close of The Cutting Room in Frizington said this burglary, which happened sometime overnight on Wednesday feels exactly like the first one.

“It is making us wonder if we are being targeted by the same person again,” she said.

Co-owner and Nicola’s sister Stacy Harris has appealed, through social media, for information. She said any help would be confidential and some kind of reward would be considered.

Nicola said the burglary was extremely disheartening.

“This is a village salon. I don’t have a big fancy house. i don’t go on five or six holidays a year. I am just trying to get by the same as everyone else.”

But she said events like this also highlight the good in people.

“We have had customers coming in to see if we are okay. It makes you realise people are good.

One of the reasons Nicole thinks the burglaries could be linked was because the burglar went straight to the counter where he found money last time.

But this year the culprit was thwarted and there is never cash left on the premises now.

“Last year some of cash was charity money. we were selling books on behalf of the Frizington Historical Society. That was money they could not afford to lose either.”

The Cutting Room, being part of a small village, often becomes involved in local charities.

Last year they raised money for villager Carly McCarron to help with treatment for a rare form of stomach cancer, which is treatable but not curable.

Nicola and her staff are being kept busy with the pre-Christmas rush so have not had too much time to think.

Police were called to the shop at around 8.50am on Thursday. A spokeswoman said the the offender had forced entry to the property.

The incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with any information in regard to the incident is asked to contact police quoting log 46 of December 6.
