Members of Copeland Labour have selected their candidate for next year's mayoral election.

Linda Jones-Bulman has secured the party's nomination ahead of the contest in May.

Linda has worked in the voluntary sector for a number of years providing support for people having previously worked at Smith Brothers. She now runs the Blue Skies mental health support group which helps people support each other.

Speaking after the selection, Linda said: “I’m really pleased to have been selected as the Labour candidate for Copeland Mayor. We need a strong voice for the whole of Copeland as we’re being ignored and left behind. We’re not getting the investment we need in jobs and infrastructure.

“Year after year of Government cuts has left Copeland struggling to deliver what it needs to and has left people without the basic public services they rely on. I want to focus on those day to day issues that people care about and stand up for Copeland.

“I’m looking forward to this campaign and getting Labour’s positive message out to voters right across our area. I want to put Copeland on the map because local people deserve better.”
