A FATHER-of-three from Ulverston has created a Facebook page to publicly help families make better food choices to improve their health and wellbeing.

Andy Allan created The Dynamic Food List because he wanted his family to have clarity on which foods are healthy amongst confusing and contradictory information.

He now wants families to interact and collaborate with his food list so they can see the benefits of healthy eating.

He said: “I listened to a podcast by Joe Rogan where he interviewed medicine expert Chris Kresser, and it opened my eyes to how we live and eat nothing like how we should.

“This was a massive turning point in my attitude towards food, health and general wellbeing.

“For the first time I started to think about the food that my family and I were eating and what positive or negative effects it might be having on us.”

The Dynamic Food List is split up into different categories, including drinks, meats, fruits and snacks.

On the list are different types of foods which are scored out of 10, the higher, the better.

The list also has a brief comment next to the food to help justify their score, researched by Mr Allan.

The list is focused on a general approach to nutrition and is not tailored to any individuals needs.

Mr Allan said the information is based on the most up to date, high quality research available at any one time.

He wants families to help him make improvements to his list by commenting with suitable justifications and evidence for why foods should be rescored.

He said: “I want people to be interested in the idea of how they can thrive with healthy eating.

“There are so many positive impacts it has on your health.

“For decades I have had both asthma and severe hay fever.

“My children were also diagnosed with child asthma.

He added “But now both my children’s and my asthma are non-existent.

“I didn’t even realise this was going to be a benefit.”

“If people decide to eat food high on this list rather than supermarket/canteen food, then they are going to live a much healthier, longer and more enjoyable life.”
