A photographer is using his spectacular images of West Cumbria to raise money for a good cause.

Snapper Gary McKeating has produced a calendar featuring stunning shots of Harrington’s marina and across the Solway Firth.

The breathtaking pictures include a shot of fireworks lighting up the sky above Harrington, a steam train puffing along the tracks and a beautiful sunset seen from the coast with a fishing boat gently passing by in the foreground.

The proceeds from the calendar, which costs £10, will be donated to Workington RNLI.

Gary, of High Harrington, said: “Photography is a passion of mine so to be able to put it to use for a good cause is something that is important to me.

“Everyone will know someone helped by the lifeboat down the years in some way and they do a fantastic job for the area but they are reliant on volunteers and donations to keep up the good work they do.

“The calendar is made up of some of my favourite pictures I have taken around Harrington marina which will hopefully

inspire people to buy the calendar and contribute to a worthy

charity. I think it would make a perfect Christmas gift and you know that it is money well spent with the profits going to a vital cause.”

Gary took up photography a few years ago and was inspired and mentored by the late Brian Sherwen.

Last year he released a calendar with images of Whitehaven’s Harbourside to raise money for Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project.

Workington RNLI received a new Shannon-class lifeboat – the Dorothy May White – last year to replace the Sir John Fisher lifeboat they had used since 1992, and Gary produced a calendar for the fundraising drive to pay for the boat.
