A service to remember babies who have been lost in pregnancy or infancy will be held on Monday.

Kerry Pape, a bereavement midwife at Whitehaven's West Cumberland Hospital, has organised the event, which will take place at 7pm at St John's Church in Hensingham.

Parents, families and friends affected by baby loss are invited to attend, whether their loss is recent or not.

The service will be led by hospital chaplain the Rev Simon Cake and St John's vicar the Rev Fergus Pearson but it is open to people of all faiths and none.

Kerry said: "It's an annual remembrance service. It's somewhere people can some to remember and reflect.

"The service has been running for a few years now and we usually get around 100 to 150 people along."

A memorial tree from the hospital's chapel will be taken to St John's for the event and there will be a chance to reflect alongside it after the service.
