COPELAND Borough Council has welcomed a new Pride of Place operative to its team.
Darren Glover has begun cleaning up the streets of Copeland alongside Malcolm Litt.
The pair collected 187 bags of rubbish, weeds and debris over five days from areas in Whitehaven, Frizington, Cleator Moor and Egremont.
Mr Glover brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to the role having joined the council’s parks and open spaces team in April 2018.
The duo undertake duties such as litter picking, weeding, emptying bins and general cleaning of the borough’s towns and villages.
Mr Glover said: “It’s a great opportunity and I look forward to keeping our town nice and clean.”
Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, launched the Copeland Pride of Place campaign in January to highlight everything that is positive in the borough.
