FORMER X-Factor winner Joe McElderry will perform at the Carnegie Theatre on Friday November 23.

The international star will land in Workington as part of his UK tour.

McElderry has been in the music industry for almost ten years after winning the ITV talent show. Born in Newcastle, he claimed X-Factor victory in 2009, before bagging a No1 hit single in the UK and Ireland.

Most will be familiar with his stint on the British talent show, but more recently he has found a new home on stage. McElderry played the titular role in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

The singer also took part in The Sport Relief Mile in 2010. His work with The Teenage Cancer Trust is well documented and his charity work earned him Variety UK’s Silver Heart Award – the youngest person ever to receive it.

TV viewers will also have seen the Newcastle-born vocalist win opstar To Opera Star in 2011. McElderry has also been touring the country, performing tracks from his fifth studio album.

During the Christmas period, McElderry will perform in West End Does Christmas, when famous stage performers gather to sing festive songs and carols. He will be joined by Harry Potter star Warwick Davies. The singer will also feature in panto as Dick Whittington.
