A FRIZINGTON man has been jailed for 90 days for damaging his mother’s gas meter, smashing her front window and assaulting her partner.

Malcolm John Wilson, 18, of Queens Crescent, Frizington, has admitted the three separate incidents of causing criminal damage to his mother’s home and assaulting Mark Young.

The court heard that following Wilson’s last court appearance, for the assault and criminal damage, he immediately breached his bail conditions by visiting his mother and damaging her gas meter.

Stuart Pattinson, prosecuting, told magistrates about the other two offences.

He said weeks earlier, Wilson had banged on the window of his mother’s home indicating he wanted to go inside. When his mother closed the curtains, Wilson banged on the window three times, smashed the glass and ran off.

Police officers stopped Wilson later that evening at Moor Place, Frizington. He admitted causing criminal damage. Wilson admitted an assault on his mother’s partner, Mr Young, that had taken place the previous week .

Neil Pilling, for Wilson, said in the latest incident, his client wanted to borrow a key for his grandmother’s address. When his mother did not let him into the house, he damaged the gas meter box which was beside the front door.

Mr Pilling also explained about the two previous incidents, Wilson was being sentenced for.

He said: “He wanted to get into his mother’s house. He banged on the window so hard that it broke. It was reckless, but not deliberate.

“The assault was after an argument with his stepfather. It wasn’t particularly serious, it was one swing of the hand that connected with his step father’s ear,” he added.
