RAKU firing and drawing workshops were held in Egremont as artists got creative for C-Art.

Florence Arts Centre hosted sessions with artists Rachel Gibson and Martin Miles-Moore to give visitors the opportunity to get involved with art.

Rachel held a drawing, stencil and printing workshop with natural pigments, chalk and charcoal while ceramicist Martin demonstrated how he has integrated Florence Mine's iconic 'Egremont red' iron ore into his latest work.

"It was fantastic, nice and busy. We had two workshops on at the same time and because the weather was nice we could fire the raku pots outside," said Craig Carruthers, Florence's building and marketing manager.

"Rachel Gibson was in the studio creating imaginary worlds. We have a pastels workshop tomorrow (Friday) and felting on Saturday. We also have music on for the Crab Fair."

The workshops were held as part of C-Art - a countywide visual arts programme.

This year's C-Art sees over 79 venues and 110 artists, designers and independent galleries open their doors to the public with numerous art and craft workshops, demonstrations and special exhibitions taking place.

In Egremont, there is a new exhibition of work from nine local artists. Taking part this year are: Phil Bradley; Mark Gibbs; Rachel Gibson; Carolyn Marr; Jenni Payne; Irene Sanderson; Angela Strange; Richard Wood and Tim Wood.
