A new exhibition marking 60 years since the Queen opened Calder Hall – the world's first nuclear power station – opens tomorrow.
The Beacon in Whitehaven hosts the month-long exhibition featuring previously unseen photos and memorabilia from the site and the surrounding communities, including Seascale, Egremont and Mirehouse.
Also on display is the Calder Hall visitors' book, signed by Her Majesty on the plant's official opening day of October 17, 1956.
