A PRESTIGIOUS CAMRA award has been presented to a Ravenglass hotel to recognise its "wonderful" hospitality.

CAMRA's - the Campaign for Real Ale - West Cumbrian branch gave its Autumn Pub of the Season award for 2016 to the Pennington Hotel.

Donna Mynett, on behalf of CAMRA, paid tribute to Iona and Peter Frost-Pennington from Pennington Hotels and Inns for their support of real ale and the increased choice now offered.

"Locals and visitors have for many years enjoyed the beers and ciders here but there was, until recently, a limited selection," she said.

"You are receiving this award today because you have completely changed the concept by choosing to offer a wide range of beers from far more breweries such as The Tractor Shed, Workington; Ulverston Brewery and Cumbria Legendary Ales, Hawkshead to name but a few."

She added: "The dedication of your staff, especially when listening to customers, has enabled you to keep an ever-changing list of beers from light to dark in good condition."

The 16th century inn overlooks Ravenglass estuary and also provides locally sourced food.

"We are chuffed to bits the Pennington Hotel has won the CAMRA 'Pub of the Season' award and it is very pleasing to see the commitment of our staff recognised in this way," said Peter Frost-Pennington.

"Ravenglass is an amazing place at any time of the year and, whatever the weather, there will always be a warm welcome for all in the Pennington Hotel or The Inn at Ravenglass."
