Members of St Bees Triers will aim to swim, cycle or run a combined 250,000 miles – the distance home from the moon – in the challenge that is launched tomorrow (Friday).
It will begin with members taking on a gruelling 24-hour session that starts at noon, and the group is then inviting the community’s support to pledge their own miles – and donations – to help meet the ambitious target.
The Longest Journey Home event will be launched at the Adams Ground, and an event headquarters will be manned through the night offering refreshments for those taking part. Money raised will be split between Comic Relief and Calderwood House homeless hostel in Egremont.
For more information on taking part or donating, email charity@triers.uk or visit its Facebook page ‘St Bees Triers Charity Challenges’.
