COPELAND has revealed its schedule of November 11 events to commemorate Remembrance Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI.

Whitehaven will observe the anniversary with a parade followed by a wreath laying and church service. The parade begins on Catherine Street at 10am. The procession will then march to the cenotaph for a wreath laying at 10.55am.

Observers will make for the service at the United Reform Church, stopping briefly at Private Acton's plaque in Saint Nicholas' Gardens. Private Abraham Acton was a soldier from Whitehaven who died in the First World War. The church bells in Saint James' and Saint Mary's will toll during the morning service.

The parade at Millom and Haverigg begins on Mainsgate Road at 8.30am reaching Saint George's for the wreath laying and service at 10am.

Residents of Cleator Moor can observe with a wreath laying in the memorial square beginning at 2.40pm with a service in The Methodist Church afterwards.

The Egremont parade convenes at 10.40am on Ehen Court Road, marching to the war memorial for the wreath laying at service at 11am. St. Bees will perform their wreath laying at 10.15am followed by a service. At 3pm, the Bell Tower will host music and tea before a commemorative service at 6pm.

Other events include:

An ecumenical service in Frizington Community School at 1.30pm.

A wreath laying in Parton square at noon.

An acknowledgement during the Kirkland Mission 9am service.

Saint Michael's church in Lamplugh laying a wreath at 10.30am.

Saint Mary's church service in Whitbeck at 10.45am.

A collective remembrance service bringing together all parishes in the Irton area, taking place at 10.30am in Saint Michael's Church.
