A WORKINGTON martial arts gym has become a not-for-profit venture with a new name.

Previously run as a business by founder Mark Hodgson, the Hokushinko Fight Academy now operates under the Just Grind banner, a brand that began as a clothing company.

Just Grind MMA and Fitness Centre will offer more combat sports classes than ever as well as additional fitness sessions.

Coach Dave Straughton has recently qualified as a powerlifting coach and the gym will offer classes in the barbell-based sport.

Its Clash Of The Titans events will continue to run.

This summer, Just Grind and co. organised a music festival in Stainburn.

COTTFEST, an extension of the Clash Of The Titans promotion, brought musical acts from around West Cumbria to the Rivendell outdoor venue.

COTT is likely to return to Rivendell in March 2019.

The gym has recently become certified with UKBJJ and Abu Dhabi Combat Club, and has just hosted a seminar with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, Ben Eddy.

The grappling expert attained his black belt from the prestigious 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu under the tutelage of Eddie Bravo.

More seminars and developments are coming to Just Grind in the future.
