Looking for something to do with the little ones to celebrate Halloween? Here's a look at just some of the things going on across Dorset this half-term.

A special Halloween fright night will take place in aid of children’s charity Ashley’s Birthday Bank.
The event will be held on Saturday, October 31, 4pm-7pm at a property in Leybourne Avenue.

Parley Country Club is hosting a Halloween and firework spectacular on Saturday, October 31 at Parley Sports Club. Gates open at 5.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 7pm with a fireworks finale at 8pm. There will also be a late bar, spooky wood walks, fairground rides, barbecue, live music and a Halloween fancy dress parade. Tickets £5 for adults, £2.50 for youths, under 12s free. Little ones can hunt for Halloween owls at Poole Museum over half term between October 24 and November 1.

There’s free entry to Monkey World for children in full Halloween fancy dress on October 31. At 3pm, there’s a fancy dress competition with prizes for the best dressed children. Youngsters can also take part in a Halloween trail which costs 50p, make presents for the primates and listen to stories. The park is open between 10am and 4pm.

Poole libraries will be hosting creepy craft making sessions for youngsters on Saturday, October 31 between 11am to 12pm, Creekmoor Library and Poole Central Library.

Children can join Professor Upton for crafts in the spooky barn at Upton Country Park between October 26 and 31. Activities run from 10.30am - 4pm. Costs £2.95 per activity.

There will be a pumpkin parade at Upton Country Park on Halloween (Saturday, October 31). Take your finest carved pumpkin along to be judged at 12pm. There are prizes for children and adults. Entry costs £2.50 per pumpkin. There will also be Halloween-themed activities after the competition, which will be held in the walled garden.

Spooky games, fancy dress, face painting and a disco are just some of the things going on at the Sandbanks Hotel’s Halloween Festival. The event takes place between 4pm and 9pm on Saturday, October 31 and 10am to 2.30pm on Sunday, November 1. Entry costs £6 per child and is suitable for those aged four and over. Meet Granny Cousins on Brownsea Island for spooky tales over dinner at the Villano cafe on Saturday, October 31. Boats depart Sandbanks at 5.15pm and 5.30pm and leave Brownsea at 8.20pm and 8.35pm. Booking Essential, call 01202 707744

A host of Halloween-themed activities will be taking place at Corfe Castle over half-term. Enter the Halloween Quest and keep your eyes peeled for ghosts and pumpkins, enter your teddy bear for the zip wire challenge, hear tales from Granny Cousins and see the launching of the Trebuchet. Take part in a Halloween trail at Studland Beach over half-term week and have a go at crafts between 10am and 4pm.

Celebrate Halloween at the Blue Pool where a series of spooky hunts will take place between October 25 and 31. Open 10am to 4pm. Entry £6 for adults and children under 16 go free.

Follow the Halloween trail at Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve, collect the clues and meet some characters along the way. Takes place between October 30 and November 1 and the trail starts from the Visitor Centre. Suitable for children aged five and over, accompanied by an adult. No need to book. Costs £2 per child.

A fancy dress Halloween disco will take place on October 31 in Christchurch. The event will be held from 4pm to 7pm at the Hall on the Hill, Marlow Drive. Tickets are £5, available from hallonthehill.org.uk or from Phil the Print in the Grove or the launderette next to the hall. Free entry for children under the age of two. 

Adventure Wonderland will be running Halloween shows and Night Time Monster Bash over half-term. The bash will take place on October 30 and 31 between 6.30pm and 9pm and will feature a giant maze, games and competitions. Booking essential. Call 01202 483444.

Westbourne Library will be hosting free activities all week until Saturday, October 31. Hunt for your spooky spider friends and make your own Incy Wincy to take home.  For older children, make your own hanging LED candle holder (LED candles not provided). Suitable for all ages.

Help create a mile of 10ps stretching from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier on October 31. The event will start at 10.30am with the Mayor laying the first 10p. All children in fancy dress get a prize. There will be a Town Crier in the square, the Dolphin Marching band will march from the Square through the gardens and onto the seafront. Also, Joe Magic and Mr Merlin and Okey Dokey the dragon will be on hand to entertain the crowds. Plus there will be face painting, music and more. 

The Friends of Fisherman's Walk have joined forces with the Southbourne Traders Association to organise a procession, story-telling and competitions for costumes and the best pumpkins. Those who wish to take part are urged to meet at Southbourne Green from 5pm on Saturday, October 31, and marshals with high-visibility jackets will escort visitors up Southbourne Grove to Fisherman's Walk. 
There will be story-telling at 6pm, followed by judging, and goody bags and glow sticks will be available throughout the event. There will also be a hot dog stall in Fisherman's Walk. Parents and guardians have been urged not to use naked flames in pumpkins.

For adults

The Woolpack in Sopley is hosting a Hallowe'en event on Saturday, October 31. The entertainment will start at 8.30pm with prizes for best costumes and dancing.

The Salt Cellar in Boscombe, located underneath Sugar and Spice, will be hosting a Halloween party on Saturday, October 31. Entry £5 on the door plus there will be a fancy dress competition. Takes place between 9pm and 2am. 

Wimborne will be transformed into a "Carnival of Chaos" on Saturday, October 31. There will be jugglers, fire eats and zombies with an interactive 'scare walk' for over 16s with tickets priced at £3.
