THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A7 LONGTOWN) (LONGTOWN BRIDGE (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2020

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A7 LONGTOWN) (LONGTOWN BRIDGE (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public as a result of damage and the dangerous condition of the bridge parapet following a vehicle collision, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to;
1. Prohibit any vehicle exceeding 2.5m (8'2") in width from proceeding along that section of the A7 Longtown, for the entire length of Longtown Bridge; and

Prohibit any vehicle exceeding 2.5m (8'2") in width from proceeding along that section of the A7 Longtown, for the entire length of Longtown Bridge; and
2. Prohibit any vehicle exceeding 9m (29'6") in length from proceeding along that section of the A7 Longtown, for the entire length of Longtown Bridge.

This follows 2 emergency notices dated 18 January 2020 and 8 February 2020.
A suitable alternative route for vehicles exceeding 2.5m (8*2") in width and 9m (29'6") in length will be available via the unrestricted sections of the A7, M6 and A6071. A suitable alternative route for vehicles exceeding 2.5m (8'2") in width and 9m (29'6") in length that are restricted from using the motorway will be available via the unrestricted sections of the A7, A689, CI 022, C1016, B7076 and A6071. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall: (i)Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and (ii)Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform. quoting the reference CU133. The Order will come into operation on 29 February 2020 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
