THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (C2069 MAIN ROAD, GREAT CLIFTON AND C2065 BRIDGEFOOT ROAD, BRIDGEFOOT, NEAR LITTLE CLIFTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (C2069 MAIN ROAD, GREAT CLIFTON AND C2065 BRIDGEFOOT ROAD, BRIDGEFOOT, NEAR LITTLE CLIFTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Highways England to carry out highway works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to;

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Main Road, Great Clifton from its roundabout junction with the A66, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 1.3km towards Great Clifton;



Alternative Route: - Via the unrestricted section of Main Road, Stainburn Road, Ramsay Brow, Washington Street, High Street, A596 (Lillytiall) and A595.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30MPH along that section of Main Road, Great Clifton from its roundabout junction with the A66, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 650m;



3. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of I0MPH along that section of Main Road, Great Clifton from its roundabout junction with the A66, extending in a north westerly direction for approx 350m.



N.B. The 10 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where contractor's operatives and plant are working on site. It will be operated on a convoy system with a lead vehicle controlling traffic speed to protect the workforce.

4. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30MPH along that section of Bridgefoot Road, Bridgefoot, near Little Clifton, from its junction with the A595, extending in an easterly then northerly direction for approx. 230m;



No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

5. Prohibit any vehicle, which is travelling towards the A595 along the C2065 Bridgefoot Road from making a left turn onto theA595.



Alternative Route for vehicles wishing to travel south along the A595 from the Bridgefoot Road: Turn right onto the A595 and proceed up to and around Clifton roundabout, taking the 4th exit to continue back along the A595 in a southerly direction. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

The Order will come into operation on 22 July 2019 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date. It is anticipated that it will only be required for 10 weeks but only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
