THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (AS94 COCKERMOUTH TO MARYPORT, A59< LILLYHALL ROUNDABOUT TO THURSBY ROUNDABOUT AND A595 FITZ ROUNDABOUT TO CARDEWLEES) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (AS94 COCKERMOUTH TO MARYPORT, A59< LILLYHALL ROUNDABOUT TO THURSBY ROUNDABOUT AND A595 FITZ ROUNDABOUT TO CARDEWLEES) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Connect Roads to carry out highways works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to:-

1. Prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the following sections of road; and

2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in excess of 10 miles per hour along the following sections of road; and



3. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in excess of 40 miles per hour along the following sections of road:-



(i) A594 Cockermouth to Maryport: From its junction with the A595 Cockermouth extending in an overall north westerly direction to its junction with the A596 Maryport

(ii) A596 Lillyhall to Thursby: From its junction with Lillyhall roundabout extending in an overall north westerly then in an overall north easterly direction to Thursby roundabout

(iii) A595 Cockermouth to Cardewlees: From its junction with Fhz roundabout extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with the Ul 133 Barras Brow, Cardewlees.

N.B. The 10 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where contractor's operatives and plant are working on site. It will be operated on a convoy system with a lead vehicle controlling traffic speed to protect the workforce. N.B. This will be a rolling closure with various sections being closed at any one time along the length of the road. Suitable alternative routes for vehicles will be signed and available, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

The Order will come into operation on 8 July 2019 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that it will only be required for approx. 5 months, during 1900 hours and 0600 hours, however there will be a need at some point for closures to be in place during day time hours too.
