Workington Reds are outside bet to win Blue Square North title
Last updated at 11:46, Friday, 29 June 2012
Workington Reds are being tipped for another season of struggle by the bookies.
The rank outsiders are as high as 66/1 to win the Blue Square Bet North with just Corby Town, Hinckley United, Solihull Moors and Vauxhall Motors commanding higher odds.
Workington finished safely in mid-table last year following a final-day 1-0 win over Worcester City.
Jordan Connerton’s strike saw Darren Edmondson’s men end the year 13th, three points above the relegation zone.
New boys Chester, who won the Evo-Stik North League Premier Division by 17 points, are joint favourites with Halifax Town at 5/1.
Guiseley, and last year’s play-off final losers Gainsborough Trinity are also among the front runners.
Promoted clubs Brackley Town and Oxford City are being tipped to comfortably beat the drop at 14/1 and 22/1 respectively, while
Cumbrian rivals Barrow are as high as 250/1 to join Workington in tier six in 2013.
