Workington Comets want two new riders before next league match

Workington Comets team manager Tony Jackson believes a break in the league fixtures will give thm time to bring in new signings.
Workington are still looking for replacements for Kyle Howarth and Kenny Ingalls, who are both out for the season, and Jackson hopes he will have two new faces in for Comets next league match on August 31 at home to Berwick.
Workington have been using guests and rider replacement for Ingalls and Howarth which Jackson said was less than ideal with the Comets still fighting for silverware on three fronts.
Although it has served them adequately so far Jackson still believes the side would have picked up extra points if they had been fit.
He said: “The averages will change for our next match so we will see what movement there is and if any teams are releasing riders. We need to find a rider that fits and it is like jigsaw that always seems to have one piece missing.
“We are still looking for riders but so is everybody else. We have around 10 points to play with and it could be a mix and match situation. Kenny is fifth in our averages so we can only have the two reserves and Tero Aarnio take the replacement rides but it wouldn’t have been so bad if we still Kyle. That is the pressure situation we are in and to win every match like that is challenging.”
Ingalls had an eight-hour operation on Friday to fuse two of his broken vertebrae together and was due to have another one today on his broken arm.
Doctors have given him a timescale of six to 12 months before he is fully fit again.
His mother is arriving in England on Wednesday and the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund is also looking at making a donation.
