Ingalls was due to arrive back in the UK at the start of this month but travelled over without a visa so had to return to America to apply for a new one.

It was feared he could miss the start of the season with uncertainties over how long it would take but now Ingalls has sorted out all the necessary paperwork and last night was looking to book a flight over to the UK as quickly as possible.

Comets owner Keith Denham said that it was imperative that they had Ingalls back for the start of the season.

He said: “It is good news and one less thing to worry about.

“We need him because if we didn’t we would have been going away for the first few matches of the season only being able to use a three point rider.

“If we had been going to places like Sheffield like that we would have really been struggling.

“Kenny is in the main part of the team now and we have got to have him there because he is a really good rider away.”

Denham also confirmed that the ankle injury suffered by Adam Roynon in the Ben Fund Bonanza on Sunday was not serious and he will also be fine for the season opener at Sheffield on April 29.

Roynon collided with eventual winner Ben Barker and although he walked into an ambulance Denham said the Barrow born youngster was back in his workshop on Tuesday and that the injury didn’t seem to be bothering him.

Plenty of the Comets riders will be taking part in individual events in the next couple of weeks to sharpen them up for the start of the season as Workington have no challenge matches.

Rene Bach will be competing in Shane Parker’s Farewell meeting on Sunday as well as the Scottish Open which also contains Richard Lawson and Denham is keeping his fingers crossed that none of his riders are injured.

He added: “They have just got to be sensible and we will get them back on our track next week.”
