Workington Comets chief Laura Morgan has earmarked two foreign riders to complete her 2013 line-up.

Talks have already begun with one of the imports, who she described as “very interested” in signing on at Derwent Park.

“It’s vital we have riders who want to be here,” she said.

“That has always been a huge factor for me when signing riders.

“I am confident both riders want to come here, and I know their average would improve with us.”

Not naming her targets, Morgan has already put together a strong squad with Richard Lawson, Rene Bach, Kyle Howarth, Ashley Morris and Mason Campton penning deals.

She said: “We’re working hard to secure the best riders, and produce an exciting team our fans will enjoy watching.”

Off the track, Workington’s new website is expected to launch next weekend.

Selling both retro and modern merchandise, Morgan is excited about extending Comets’ online offering.

“It opens up new avenues,” she said. “We will be selling tickets through the website, as well as merchandise.

“Season ticket sales are already going well.

“I’ve been encouraged by the reaction of the fans.”

Meanwhile, Morgan and Comets are leading the way in offering Premier League fans a unique offering. Talks between clubs are underway that could see season ticket holders privileged to more benefits.

“I want anyone who has a season ticket for any club to get discounted prices at other grounds.

“It’s crucial we entice more people to matches, so why not give the loyal fans a chance to watch Premier League speedway wherever they are?”
