THE tale of a young David Bowie obsessive who embarks on a thrilling journey in the footsteps of his idol will be told on stage in the Lake District.

From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads returns to Cumbria next month, appearing at the Theatre by the Lake on Tuesday February 6.

Adrian Berry’s acclaimed sell-out production enjoyed a successful run in 2017 that included appearances in the county.

It tells the story of Martin, a boy with an illness no one understands and a head full of sound and vision.

When an unexpected gift arrives on his birthday, Martin quickly discovers some long-hidden truths about himself.

The screenplay is a solo show and features the voice of comedian Rob Newman.

The life of the fan is dissected to a soundtrack celebrating David Bowie’s otherworldly music.

Having previously sold out in London, Edinburgh and Germany, it enjoyed a nationwide run early last year.

David Bowie had West Cumbrian connections himself, having made his theatrical debut at the Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven in January 1968.

Lindsay Kemp’s production of Pierrot in Turquoise saw Bowie play a cloud, in between the release of his first two albums.

Adrian Berry is the artistic director of Jacksons Lane, a contemporary circus and visual theatre venue in London. His other work includes Jack Pleasure and Dye Young/Stay Pretty.

From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads shows at the Theatre by the Lake on Tuesday February 6, at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
