A WEST Cumbrian singer-songwriter has been storming up the charts with her brand-new single release.

Whitehaven's Zoe Warren launched Hurricane last Friday and has already seen the song rise up the iTunes country charts as high as number three - outselling tracks by the likes of Johnny Cash and Shania Twain.

The solo star - known mononymously as Zoe - released her Fairytales album just over two years ago, but this return has felt like a long time coming.

"After I released Fairytales, I focused for a while on promoting it and performing my songs live, but I always kept writing," she says.

"Last year I really started to focus more on new songs and recording some demos. I'm still working on these songs, but it wasn't until earlier this year that I actually wrote Hurricane, and it was probably one of the quickest to write so far!

"It just sort of fell out of my head, but I really took the time in producing this one as I wanted to get the right sound.

"I think it was worth the wait - I'm really happy with how it turned out."

Hurricane has featured in a few of Zoe's recent live performances to plenty of positive feedback, but the compliments have been flooding in since the track was made available to download on Friday 13.

Zoe continues: "I'm absolutely over the moon with the response, it's been amazing and I was really surprised to see it even in the top 200 of the iTunes Country Charts, let alone reach number three.

"Everybody has been really supportive, from friends and family sharing it, to people they know sharing it too and I've had so many messages from people I don't even know, offering congratulations and telling me how much they like it."

The new song is clearly influenced by many of the modern country singers, but still has the pop sensibilities of her previous releases.

It gives us a taste of things to come, with Zoe working on a new album, which is now starting to take shape.

"I have also been performing a few other new tracks to test the water before I release them, such as my new song Just A Weekend, Get Over You and Good For Me, which I have also had great feedback from," she adds.

"I hope to have a new album released soon, but I'm really taking my time on the production of these songs so I currently do not have a date for its release. In the meantime, I'm really focusing on promoting Hurricane and my live performances.

"I'm currently in touch with radio stations who want to play my songs which is amazing too. I just want to release songs that everybody loves!"
