Wath Brow Hornets and Glasson Rangers moved on in the E Lamb & Son Amateur Cup following convincing wins at the weekend.

Wath Brow hosted Lowca and in the end the top flight side proved too good and ran out 48-16 victors.

There were braces across the park for the Hornets from Jack Casey, Ryan Corlett and Martin Barwise while man-of-the-match James McClellan picked up a try and four conversions.

Jason Connery, Sam Bateson and Jamie Phillips also touched down for the home side.

For Lowca there were tries for David Colley, Keith Campbell, Allan Todd and Will Roley, with Campbell tagging on two goals.

Glasson had it a bit tougher against their opponents, Great Clifton Lions but scored at regular intervals to secure their passage into the next round with a 28-6 win.

Greg Rowley led the way for Glasson with a brace of tries to go alongside one apiece from Brian Patterson, Chris Tomlinson and Jordan Kerr, with Tom Dixon kicking four goals. Clifton replied with an Adam Wright try, converted by Danny Jones.

Seaton and Kells also move on to the next round, without having to take to the field as their respective opponents, Cockermouth and Broughton could not raise teams for their cup games.

There was only one game in the league and that was played on Friday night as Distington travelled to Maryport and ran out 40-18 victors in the top flight clash.

Gary Martin was the hat-trick hero for Distington while Ryan Hodgson ran in a brace of tries.

Adam Conway and Nicky Cook also crossed the whitewash while Scott George wrapped up the scoring with six goals.

Maryport’s points came through tries for Sam Forrester, Scott Akehurst and Ellis Nixon, with Craig Foster tagging on one goal.

The midweek clash between Seaton A and Kells was called off when the Seaton side could not raise a team.
