A CALL has been made for volunteers to help with events welcoming the Olympic Torch Relay to the South Lakes.
The Lake District National Park Authority and South Lakeland District Council need more than 100 helpers to assist with marshalling when the Olympic torch travels to Cumbria on June 21.
Andrea Hills, LDNPA events co-ordinator, said: “We need volunteers who can be assertive in a polite and friendly manner.”
The authorities are looking for people who can commit to being at a dedicated area and stand for a long time.
Volunteers are needed on June 21 in Grasmere from 3.30pm to 7.30pm, Ambleside from 4pm to 8pm, Bowness from 10am to 2pm and 9pm to midnight.
Anyone interested can phone 01539 792648 or email andrea.hills@lakedistrict.gov.uk.
