Teen faces fraud charges

A MAN appeared in court accused of defrauding more than £1,000 from a Whitehaven pensioner after roof repairs.

Rico Charles Henry Evans, 18, of St Helens, Merseyside, faces seven charges, including engaging in aggressive commercial practice and fraud by false representation.

Evans is alleged to have gone with the 79-year-old woman to her bank to ensure she withdrew the money.

The prosecution followed a joint investigation by Cumbria Trading Standards and the police.

No pleas were taken at the hearing and the case was adjourned until Wednesday.
