What is your favourite thing about Cumbria?

People so warm, friendly, and helpful.

What makes you most proud to live and work in Cumbria?

The community spirit that welcomes and drives everyone to bond together and be ambassadors of our magnificent county.

Which stereotypes about Cumbria would you say were wrong?

That Cumbrians are dour – what utter rubbish. They are the warmest, friendliest people you can ever hope to meet.

Where is your favourite place in Cumbria to go for a night or day out?

Whitehaven harbour on festival night, the memory of Katherine Jenkins in concert will last forever. Unbelievable, fantastic night – incredible spine-tingling atmosphere. Already booked For June 2012.

What is your favourite Cumbrian meal?

My favourite meal can only be Cumberland sausage bought from Seascale butchers, with mashed potatoes and Cumberland sauce. Bliss.

What and where are your favourite shops and tourist attractions in Cumbria?

Carlisle centre on a Saturday sitting on the wall outside the cathedral listening to the buzz of the shoppers all soaking up the atmosphere in total safety, and then a coffee in John Watt’s magnificent Victorian coffee shop.

If you were recommending Cumbria to a friend, where would you tell them to go, and what would you tell them to do?

It can only be the beauty of the western lakes ,visit the small church at Wasdale head then a small walk to the waterfall at the back of the Wasdale head pub, and see the magnificent valley and mountains – it’s got to be the best in Britain.

What is your best Cumbrian memory?

Originally from Liverpool, and owning and living in a house in Wasdale, waking up on a Christmas morning to a total snow whiteout... Then having to go out to feed our daughter’s pony, the tears unashamedly rolled down my face at the sheer beauty and tranquillity of the fells and mountains and how lucky we were to live in such awe-inspiring valley.That memory will last forever and is one that I am proud to share.
