Last updated at 15:15, Thursday, 16 February 2012
WHITEHAVEN Rugby Union have confirmed their first team for the new outdoor social touch rugby league.
The league, launching at St Benedict’s School in Whitehaven, kicks off on Wednesday, April 11 and runs for 10 weeks.
The league’s Paul Lowery said: “We are delighted Whitehaven Rugby Union has entered a team and are looking forward to seeing them taking part.”
Squads can comprise up to 10 players and games will be six-a-side with unlimited substitutions.
Each team plays 40-minute games per week and entry is £3 per week, per player. Teams can be entered or individuals may turn up and join with an existing team.
There is no tackling involved – a simple touch constituting a play-the-ball, so there is minimal risk of injury.
To join the league ring Matt Jefferson 077750 22799 or email matt.jefferson@rfl.uk.com.
