Zumba fans enjoy live event

CUMBRIA’S first ever Zumba LIVE! took place at Whitehaven Civic Hall last month, where adult and children Zumba fans alike soaked up the fantastic atmosphere, led by instructors Katie McGee and Diane Burns.
The Civic Hall’s own band provided the music, with manager Paul Tomlinson on vocals and lighting technician Kevin Armstrong on lead guitar.
With guest singer Debbie Congdon-Opray, they belted out some fantastic upbeat tunes, including Surfin’ USA, Waka Waka, Jai-Ho and Johnny B Goode.
Mary Kelly, who regularly attends Zumba classes says, “I really enjoy Zumba and wondered what it would be like with a live band – I wasn’t disappointed, the night was brilliant!
“It was much better than I ever expected it to be with the beats thumping out of the large speakers.
“All credit to the band for the wonderful music and atmosphere, and to the girls for the excellent routines.”
Zumba classes take place at Whitehaven Civic Hall, Whitehaven Sports Centre and Copeland Bowls & Sports Centre throughout the week, and now there’s the new Zumbatomic – Zumba for kids!
These fun, energetic classes include lots of inter-action and games during fun routines to great music.
Sessions are great for co-ordination, communication and social skills, as well as keeping children fit, healthy and entertained.
