Winter pigeons shows set to start

THE first of the winter pigeon shows are due to start this weekend with Flimby West Coast FC kicking-off on Sunday.
Their first show, in the Princess Royal, Flimby, is for young cocks with penning at 1pm and judging to start at 2pm.
Entry fee is 25p a pen and the nomination of 50p is optional.
The follow-on shows are November 13, young hens; November 20, young cock or hen; November 27, old cocks; December 4, old hens and December 11, old cock or hen.
Workington Victoria FC is reviving its series of shows in the Union Jack Club after a couple of years and has switched from a Sunday afternoon to a Friday night, with judging to start at 7.15pm prompt.
A £25 first prize in each of the four shows has been guaranteed and there will also be a £25 prize for most points in the series.
The entry fee is 30p a bird with 50p for unlimited nominations.
The first show will be on November 18 and is for old cocks and that will be followed by old hens on November 25; young cocks on December 2 and young hen on December 9.
The Victoria club is grateful to sponsorship from West Cumbria Scaffolding; Metropolitan Racing, Howard Knudson and the Union Jack Club.
