WHITEHAVEN squash player Mike Lowrey has won the National Parkwood Court Challenge Final.
After winning the Crosby Parkwood Court Challenge, Mike made the long journey south to Oxfordshire to join the other regional winners, hoping to go home with the title and the prize of an iPad.
Lowrey proved his class in the group stage – not dropping a game and taking one game 11-0 from each of his opponents, dropping only a combined 13 points total in four matches. With the men’s groups finished and the group winners decided, it was time for the inaugural Court Challenge Series Grand Final between the two group winners Mike Lowrey and Darren Withey.
Lowrey was able to take the first game which left the game beyond his opponent. In the second game, Darren controlled the T and produced some fantastic shots to take a tight game, 11-8. Lowrey came out in the third with regained focus and started hitting the shots that had been too much for his opponents throughout the day and closed out the final 11-4, securing the honours for himself and his home club.
