THE latest West Cumbria Badminton League results include a win in their opening fixture for last season’s mixed champions Solway.

Despite the disadvantage, Solway proved their pedigree, with Malcolm Grayson and Chris Murphy, and Peter Murphy and Morag Dean taking maximums for a 6-3 victory.
Also in division one, Marchon secured an away win in a tightly fought contest against Abbeytown. Although Neal Blair and Jos Cole won all three, the visitors came out on top.
Gary Park and Frances Mounsey, and Graham Robinson and Annie Ashburner each taking two of three.
In division two, Maryport I won at home to Seascale II, 8-1. David Falkner and Fiona Leek took Seascale’s only game, with Paul Booth and Tina Brown, and Barry Calvert and Emily Wood getting maximums for Maryport.
In men’s division two, Seascale II narrowly came out winners against Marchon II, 5-4. David Falkner and Rob Blythe were unbeaten for Seascale.
In the ladies league, last season’s champions Abbeytown started off their new campaign with a win at home to Marchon, triumphing 7-2. Despite two games from Chris Steele and Annie Ashburner, Abbeytown dominated the match, as Lorraine Graham and Shirley Graham took maximums.
