High jump record of 28 years falls to Emily

It’s a Hardie finish
LAST week’s racing on Bassenthwaite Lake started with round four of the Thursday evening Night Jar series. It had been a cold and windy day and, although conditions were calmer in the evening the gusts caught out Val and Ken Bell (Loweswater) and they retired their GP14 following a capsize.

KESWICK are the early pace-setters this season in the Educomm Direct Ltd West Cumbria Men’s Fours League with maximum points from their first two games. On Friday they won 7-0 at Cleator Moor. IT is looking as though the reigning champions Whitehaven A (not Workington A as incorrectly stated last week) are keen to retain the trophy as they have taken maximum points from their first two games.
