Game revives hockey days

A COMPETITIVE but friendly atmosphere reigned at a recent hockey match for the over 60s.
Four members of the original Whitehaven Hockey Club: Gordon Atkinson, Steve Hornsby, Mike Graham and Mike Patton were joined by Ian Feather, Keith Raper and Ernie Brittan Dodd of the current Keswick West Cumbria Hockey Club, represented Cumbria against the England Over 60 bronze medallists of the 2004 World Cup.
This was the England B team that beat Australia A and England A on their way to achieving their memorable achievement in 2004 and they still have two members of the England over 70 team.
On this occasion, the Cumbrians were beaten by the England team 2-0.
Team manager Mike Patton said: “The game was played in a competitive but friendly spirit and all survived to play another game!’’
